Information and links about Detroit

        Many know of this city as Detroit.  Other names are Motown, The Motor City, and The D.  Detroit is also famous for Henry Ford’s assembly line and Model T.  Other sites are there to see though.  For museums there is three art museums, three science museums, seven historical museums and a House and Gardens Museum.  Out of those museums there is a Holocaust Museum and, of course, the Henry Ford Museum.

        Music is important as well to the Detroit area.  There are 14 well-known theatres.

Some of the more famous is the Fisher Theatre, Fox Theatre, and Detroit Opera House/Michigan Opera Theatre.  Aretha Franklin, Daina Ross, Bob Seger, Eminem, the Winans, and Kid Rock all call Detroit their hometown.

        Most people know Detroit as the home of the Lions for football.  Detroit has teams in all four of the major sports in America.  Detroit Tigers for baseball, Detroit Pistons for basketball and Detroit Red Wings for ice hockey.  Some events most commonly know is the Grand Prix race on Belle Isle, International Freedom Festival Fireworks, the Thanksgiving Day Parade, Movement Techno Fest, Jazz Fest, CityFest, Motown Hoedown, River Days, and Hydroplane races on Detroit River.
